COERR Kanchanaburi and the Children Day in Refugee Camps

   COERR Kanchanaburi in coordination with organizations concerned, organized the Children Day’s activities in Ban Tham Hin refugee camp in Suanphueng District of Ratchaburi Province on January 9, 2019 and in Ban Don Yang refugee camp in Sangkhlaburi District, Kanchanaburi Province, to convince all that children are future of their nation and community and they deseve care and support for proper development.

   In addition to Children Day’s activities, COERR Kanchanaburi, as well as COERR Mae Hong Son, Mae Sarieng and Mae Sot Offices, implement various programs for the physical, social and mental development of refugee children in 9 camps located in Mae Hong Son, Tak, Kanchanaburi and Ratchaburi Provinces.

   COERR social work program raised awareness of community groups like Karen and Karenni Women organizations and Youth organizations for protection of children from separation, abandonment, abuse, etc., and training in school for children’s self protection from abuses, etc;

   Moreover COERR promotes the children activities in all refugee camps such as

   -Support for their education such as student uniform and education fee to the needy children and hygiene pack distribution;

   -Youth activities for elderly in community such as home visit to elderly and the sick, participation in the cultural event by making nutritious soy bean drinks for elderly’s health and together youth and elderly share traditional talking or music playing or performance as cultural transfer which is monthly organized at COERR Social Service Centers in all camps;

   -leadership and community work as Volunteering, such as scouting, campaign for environment protection and collecting garbage along public areas like roadsides and waterway banks; Joining with COERR in Tree Planting activities when the important events arrives such as Father Day, Mother Day, Environment Day, Refugee Day, etc.
